Basic Terms and Conditions
General terms

The 2019 Herp Expedition and Photo Tour (hereby referred to as the 'Expedition') will be held from 1 through 10 August, 2019.

The cost of the Expedition is $1,650 per person.

The minimum number of participants is 4; if this number is not reached by the Application & Payment Deadline (28 June, 2019) the program will be cancelled and all fees paid to the ASA will be reimbursed, including any application fee paid.

Confirmation of the Expedition will be provided just after the Application & Payment Deadline (28 June, 2019).

The maximum number of participants is 10.
Payment, accommodations and food

The fees paid to the ASA cover all accommodations and meals during the entire period of the at the Los Amigos Biological Station (Los Amigos).

Lodging and food at the Los Amigos Biological Station are provided by the Asociación para la Conservación de la Cuenca Amazónica (ACCA) in Peru, which administers the site, not the ASA. The ASA assumes no responsibility whatsoever for the provision of these services.

The ASA assumes no responsibility for any damages or injuries sustained to participants or their property during the Expedition at Los Amigos.
Insurance

All Expedition participants are required to have or obtain their own travel and medical insurance in their country of residence that covers them during the entire period of the Expedition at Los Amigos.

All visitors must provide the ASA with proof of travel and medical insurance. We will not accept any visitors that have not provided us with this information.
Complaints and Disciplinary Procedures

If you have a complaint about the procedures prior to your arrival, contact us at +51 981 699 368 during regular office hours (EST) or write to us at: info@sustainableamazon.org

While at Los Amigos we strongly recommend that you reach out to either of the Expedition leaders with any problems or complaints. If the problem remains unsolved, or is not solved to your satisfaction, contact the ASA Director in Peru at +51 981 699 368.

We will make every reasonable effort to resolve any disciplinary issue the best and fairest way possible. However, it is important that you know that if the problem gets serious, we reserve the right to take appropriate action, including dismissal from the Expedition.

Inappropriate behavior includes rowdiness or drunkenness, and verbal, physical, and sexual abuse or violence directed towards ASA faculty or staff, other ASA program participants, or other guests or ACCA staff members at Los Amigos.

Expedition leaders will attempt to address any disciplinary problems in a timely fashion. If the matter is not resolved to our satisfaction within 3 days (or shorter if deemed necessary), you may be dismissed from the Expedition as soon as repatriation arrangements can be made. All costs related to this early departure will be the participant's responsibility.

If you wish to stay in the country (Peru), you will leave Los Amigos at your expense and the Alliance for a Sustainable Amazon will no longer have any responsibility for your accommodations or food.

We reserve the right to suspend participants from Expedition activities during the disciplinary process.
Cancellations and late payments

All cancellations need to be submitted in writing by email to: info@sutainableamazon.org.

The $150 Application Fee is non-refundable.

If you cancel on or before the Application & Payment Deadline (specified for each Program and Session), we will refund all program fees paid (except for the $150 non-refundable fee).

No fees will be refunded after the Application & Payment Deadline.

No refunds will be made for early departures.
Responsibility

Your registration in the Expedition is accepted on the understanding that you participate in the program entirely at your own risk. We are not responsible for any injury, damage, loss, or accident that you may suffer while conducting activities related to the Expedition.

ASA is not liable for any injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or any other irregularity caused by any third party.

We reserve the right to decline to accept any person as a participant in any of our programs, or to require a participant to withdraw from the Expedition at any time, when such action is determined by the appropriate ASA representative to be in the best interest of the health, safety, and general welfare of the program or of the individual participant. In such a case, we accept no responsibility for any airline cancellation penalty incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket or any other cost incurred by the participant.

We will provide participants with all reasonable advice in obtaining tourist visa to enter Peru. However, please note that these are arrangements between you, as an individual, and a state, and are not under our control.
