Alliance for a Sustainable Amazon (ASA) provides all accommodations and meals needed for the period of your placement at Finca Las Piedras (3 meals per day, 7 days per week for the entire Program duration).
-
If you decide to spend your days off outside Finca Las Piedras, you will be responsible for any expenses related to accommodation and food elsewhere. No partial refunds will be given for accommodation and food at Finca Las Piedras not used during the Program period due to your absence.
-
If you participate in ASA-sponsored field trips or weekend activities that are paid separately from the Program fees, ASA will be responsible for providing accommodations and/or meals according to the activity.
-
ASA is not responsible for providing accommodations or meals for any amount of time once your Program has finished, unless you are willing to pay extra for those services.
-
No guests are allowed to stay overnight at our facilities without prior express approval from the management of Finca Las Piedras. Failure to comply with this policy will be considered a disciplinary matter and will be dealt with according to the ‘Complaints and Disciplinary Procedures’ contained within this document.
Hours
-
You are expected to work 8 hours per day, from Monday through Friday, during the entire duration of the Volunteer or Internship Program. A break will be given each day for lunch. Due to the nature of the work you will be performing, a reasonable measure of flexibility is expected when arranging your work hours.
-
You will always have weekends off (Saturday and Sunday). If desired, you could extend your time off with the condition of recuperating the hours missed the following weekend.
-
If you are participating in the ‘Advanced Sustainability’ or the ‘Academic Quarter’ internship programs, you are entitled to one week and two weeks of vacation, respectively. This means that you may choose not to work for one or two weeks out of the 8 or 12 weeks that your program runs, respectively. We strongly recommend that vacation time is taken at the end of your placement.
Insurance
-
All volunteers and interns are required to obtain their own travel and medical insurance in their country of residence.

All visitors must provide the ASA with proof of travel and medical insurance. We will not accept any visitors that have not provided us with this information.
